My second Pukeko and Buzzy Bee cake - smaller scale than the last one
Three Tier Cups -Well I have to say that these cup cakes could have been engineered to stand up straighter if I had followed a few simple rules - I learned a few lessons with this one. I was generally happy with the fondant on the cups, but need to prepare the fondant well in advance for the handles if I do this again. The largest cup handle collapsed on the morning of delivery and as you can see the replacement is decidedly sagging. This is only my second attempt with the roses and I had painted the edges with gold paint. So I was a bit pleased with myself.
Cookie Monster - My first attempt at a 3D cake - quite happy, very time consuming with the butter-cream and my favourite Wilton 223 nozzle. Overall effect was good but I would do the arms differently next time.
Basketball theme - I liked this one finished. All of the basketballs are made of orange fondant and hand painted.
Kiwi - Another simple design from my favourite Kiwiana cake book - lots of flake bars used.
Lightening McQueen #2 - I am happier with the finish on this cake - better colours etc.
Bride & Groom figures - Getting ready for the wedding cake to follow
Topsy Wedding Cake - I was delighted with this cake. It was Lemon Madeira with lemon flavoured butter cream filling - I t tasted quite nice. I was not however, overly delighted with the colour scheme which was supposed to be the same colours as the invites. Got lots of nice comments when setting this one up - but you know how you are your own worst critic.
David's Converse sneaker - for the top of David and Ambers 21st cake
Soccer theme - this cake was very time consuming. This is my first attempt at a soccer ball and was pleased with the result. Thank goodness for Wilton. I love their pans. The sports ball has come in handy for lots of different designs.
